Project Overview:  

Designed to support a growing multilateral institution, the campus was modernized and expanded to provide a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable workplace. The improvements enable the Asian Development Bank to strengthen development financing, technical assistance, research, and policy support for its member countries while reflecting its commitment to environmental responsibility and operational excellence. 

Project Context: 

Development institutions are expected to demonstrate the same principles they advocate. By integrating sustainable practices into its own workplace, the Asian Development Bank showed how environmental stewardship can become part of day-to-day operations while reinforcing the Philippines’ longstanding role as host to one of the world’s leading multilateral development banks. 

Project Scale:  

• Serves 69 member countries, including 50 regional members  
• Original headquarters complex inaugurated in 1991  
• Expanded through multiple phases, including the Headquarters Expansion Project  
• Achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (EB:O&M) from the U.S. Green Building Council  
• Designed to accommodate administrative, operational, conference, and knowledge-sharing functions 

Project Features:  

• Sustainable campus supported by energy-efficient mechanical systems, water conservation measures, daylight utilization, and waste reduction initiatives  
• Rooftop solar photovoltaic installations, light-emitting diode (LED) lighting, daylight-harvesting technologies, and high-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions  
• Purpose-built institutional campus bringing executive offices, operational departments, conference facilities, knowledge resources, and administrative services together to strengthen collaboration and organizational efficiency

Building services play a vital role in creating workplaces where international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and day-to-day operations can continue without interruption.
